Alice Paul

Jessie found herself in Washington D.C. working for the Minimum Wage Commission trying to get the higher wage instated there. She soon joined the suffrage movement that was in full swing. She met Alice Paul who tried to get Jessie to join her radical, revolutionary group.
Jessie dined daily at Alice Paul’s headquarters, located directly across the street from the White House, but couldn’t bring herself to march with the group. Instead, she joined Carrie Chapman’s Catt with her more parliamentary approach. Soon after, Jessie became the first woman lobbyist at the Capitol.
